Terms of Use
These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of Undertwig at undertwig.com (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to these terms.
What Undertwig is
Undertwig is a browser-based LaTeX workspace. You can edit project files, compile locally with the bundled WebAssembly engine, and preview PDFs on your device. Optional Google sign-in unlocks signed-in features such as collaboration and Google Cloud project storage.
Accounts and collaboration
You may use the local editor without an account. Collaboration and cloud project storage require signing in. Undertwig supports Google accounts only. By signing in, you authorize Undertwig to receive basic Google profile information needed to establish your session, as described in the Privacy Policy. Cloud storage may also request permission to create and update files in an Undertwig folder on your Google Drive. Collaboration invites may share that project with another Google account and request permission to send email through your Gmail account so an invitation link can be delivered to the address you enter.
You are responsible for activity under your signed-in session on your device and for content you store through cloud features. You may log out at any time from the editor. We may suspend or restrict signed-in features if needed to protect the Service or other users.
Your content
- You retain ownership of the documents and files you create or upload.
- You are responsible for the content you process with the Service and for ensuring you have the rights to use it.
- Generated PDFs and other outputs you create remain yours.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Violate applicable law or third-party rights
- Attempt to disrupt, overload, or abuse the website, hosting infrastructure, related package endpoints, or sign-in flows
- Distribute malware or engage in unauthorized access to systems
- Misrepresent your identity when using signed-in features
Software license
The Undertwig software is made available under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0. Third-party components, including the SwiftLaTeX engine and Google Identity Services, are described in the project’s third-party notices. Corresponding source is available at github.com/martino-vic/undertwig.
No warranty
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Compilation results, PDF output, availability, sign-in availability, collaboration features, and compatibility with particular TeX packages are not guaranteed.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operators of Undertwig are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or business, arising from your use of the Service. If liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid to use Undertwig in the twelve months before the claim (if any) or (b) zero if the Service is provided free of charge.
Third-party services
The Service may contact third-party resources when needed, including Google Identity Services for sign-in, the Google Drive API for signed-in project storage, the Gmail API for optional collaboration invitation emails you choose to send, and a TeX Live package endpoint for compilation. Those services are outside our control, and their terms and availability may change. Google sign-in, Drive, and Gmail access are also subject to Google’s terms and policies.
Privacy
Our Privacy Policy describes how information is handled when you use Undertwig.
Changes and availability
We may update these terms, modify features, or discontinue the Service. Continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation.
